Creative Virtual Business Plan Competition 2015
Hosted by the College of Business, the first Creative Virtual Business Plan Competition 2015 was successfully held on 15th November. The competition results were announced in the award ceremony on 13th December.
Designed to stimulate the unbounded potential and creativity, the competition required secondary school students to write a business plan by analysing the current situation of the online business market and looking for new opportunities. The competing teams showcased their proposals and explained to the panel of judges how they applied their business knowledge in reality.
With extensive business experience as well as strong marketing acumen, the panel of judges suggested areas of improvement to the students, in terms of the feasibility, creativity and presentation of their business plans.
The panel of judges in the competition:
- Mr Alex Tham, Assistant Dean (Admissions and Promotion for Undergraduate) of the College of Business
- Ms Gammy Kwok, CEO of Herbs Generation (Holdings) Limited.
- Mr Sam Hui, Chairman of Industrial Committee (Information Technology) of The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong
- Mr Lap Man Wan,Chief Development Officer (Strategy & Research) of Hong Kong Playground Association
- Mr Phoenix Wan, Founder of Youth Entrepreneur Warrior
- Mr Vincent Ha, Founder of Nimbus Insight
“Through practical experience, the students can apply the knowledge learnt in school into real business setting,” said Mr Alex Tham. “This competition will enrich the students’ learning exposures and helps exploring their future directions”.
To commend the outstanding performance of the students, the College presented multiple awards to the winning teams. The winners are from the following schools:

There are some promising business plans proposed by the students in the competition. For example, the Champion team suggested creating a mobile phone app for customers to order healthy lunchbox designed by the nutritionist, as people nowadays are more inclined to pursuing healthy food. While The Best Potential Award team recommended a mobile application which provides users a platform to get all-in-one services such as home cleaning, maintenance and tuition services, etc., in achieving a more convenient life.
