Professor Kwok Kee Wei receives 2015 AIS LEO Award for Lifetime Exceptional Achievement in Information Systems
Prof Kwok Kee Wei, Chair Professor of the Department of Information Systems, was recently awarded the 2015 LEO Award for Lifetime Exceptional Achievement in Information Systems by the Association for Information Systems (AIS). The award was presented during the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) held in Fort Worth, Texas from 13th to 16th December 2015.
Established in 1999 by the AIS Council and the ICIS Executive Committee, LEO Award for Lifetime Exceptional Achievement in information systems was named after one of the world’s first commercial applications of computing - The Lyons Electronic Office. The Award aims to recognise outstanding scholars or practitioners who have made exceptional global contributions in the field of information systems. The Award recipients are regarded as a prominent representative of their national or regional information systems community.
Prof Wei has served as the Dean of the College from 2007 to 2012, and the Head of the Department of Information Systems from 2002 to 2007. During his Deanship, the UTD Top 100 Business School Research Rankings of CB has jumped by more than 30 places, and the College’s SSCI/SCI publications also increased by nearly 25%. Prof Wei has helped the College to establish a number of leading programmes, and laid a solid foundation for its further development.
Prof Wei is serving on the Editorial Advisory Board of a number of leading publications, including Idea Group Publishing and Information Science Publishing, and on the Editorial Board of other leading international journals including the IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. He has also served as the Senior Editor for MIS Quarterly and the Associate Editor of Information Systems Research, and played major roles in international conferences. Prof Wei is the Fellow of AIS and was the President of the Association for the year 2003/04.
