Esteemed alumnus tells entrepreneurship experiences in EMBA seminar
The College of Business Executive Master of Business Administration (Chinese) (EMBA (Chinese)) programme has initiated a new series of seminars named Dialogue with Hong Kong and Mainland China Business Leaders (中港財智滙系列講座), inviting successful business leaders to share experience and knowledge. Dr John Chan Chun-tung, the first graduate of the College Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme, was invited to talk about how a Hong Kong entrepreneur to start business in China on 26th February.
Dr Chan is currently the Chairman of Chaifa Holdings Limited and the Member of the General Committee, Federation of Hong Kong Industries. He was named the CityU Honorary Fellow in 2011 and awarded the first CityU Distinguished Alumni Award in 2009.
In the seminar, Dr Chan shared his experience in starting his own business in the garment manufacturing industry, and bringing the world brand "Playboy" into the China market. He also offered advice on corporate rebranding. Dr Chan also told stories of how his company overcame financial crises, and encouraged young people to start business with courage, flexibility and innovation. He concluded the sharing with his motto: To expect success, to be prepared for failure, but never give up.
