The Benjamin Kwok Lecture Theatre has been named after Mr. Benjamin Kwok Chan-yiu, Managing Director of Kwonnie Electrical Products Limited, in appreciation of his support to the University and significant contributions to the community.
The naming ceremony for Lecture Theatre 16 in Academic 1 was opened by Mr. Kwok, Professor Way Kuo, President of CityU, and Professor Roderick Wong Sue-cheun, Vice-President (Development and External Relations) on 8th January. In his opening speech, Prof. Kuo thanked Mr. Kwok for his generosity and continuous support of CityU over the past several years.
Mr. Kwok obtained his Master of Business Administration (Executive) degree from CityU in 2007. He is an honorary member of the CityU Alumni Giving Club and an honorary adviser to the CityU Postgraduate Association. He has also received many awards from the local communities as recognition to his contributions. Mr. Kwok received the Young Industrialist Award of Hong Kong from the Federation of Hong Kong Industries in 1997 and has been assigned many leadership roles in various industry associations and organisations such as the President Honoris Causa of the Hong Kong Young Industrialists Council. He is recognised as one of Hong Kong’s leading entrepreneurs.
