Young scholars share experience on personal growth and study

The College of Business held its Young Scholars Programme (YSP) Mentoring cum Student Presentation Dinner 2014 at the CityU Chinese Restaurant on 14th March.  The YSP aims to nurture outstanding BBA undergraduates to become future leaders in the world, and offers one semester internship opportunities with participating firms.

Around 20 faculty members, mentors, and guests together with 60 undergraduate students from the College’s six departments attended the event. Prof Julie Li, Associate Dean of College of Business (Undergraduate programme),  and the YSP Management Team Convenor, accompanied by the Team Members, Dr Syed Akhtar, Associate Professor of Department of Management and Ms Wisteria Cheung, Teaching Fellow of Department of Marketing, congratulated all participating students for their accomplishments.

Three YSP student representatives shared their personal development to the audience regarding their internship experience:

  • LAW Shao Feng, Howard (BBA China Business, Year 3)

  • LI Xiaoyu, Angel (BBA Accountancy, Year 3)

  • JIM Yat Fung, Calvin (BBA Marketing, Year 3)

More about YSP

The College first launched the Young Scholars Programme in 2009 with the aim to nurture BBA students. It provides the following opportunities:

  • Overseas study tour during Year 1 summer break

  • Special career and leadership training and workshops for job placement and further studies

  • Internship placements in multi-national companies to be arranged locally or overseas

  • Networking with top business students admitted locally and overseas

  • Professional mentorship provided by professors and/ or professional practitioners

  • Cultivation of social responsibility through community services and voluntary work
