2014 China International Marketing Conference in Wuhan

The 2014 China Marketing International Conference (CMIC) was successfully held from 11th to 14th July in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, China. The conference was co-organised by representatives from the Department of Marketing of City University of Hong Kong (CityU), the University of South Carolina (USC), Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), and the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST).
The conference aimed to provide a platform for marketing experts from around the world to exchange ideas. Around 250 scholars from 13 countries and regions submitted papers on the conference theme “China’s Contributions to Marketing: Theory and Practice” for research analysis. 

                                                  

The event was opened by Prof Zhilong Tian, Professor and Head of the Management Department of HUST, and Prof Chenting Su, Head of the Department of Marketing of CityU, with welcoming speeches to the guests. Scholars from leading universities shared their latest research and entrepreneurs from Chinese corporations discussed their views on branding and company growth.

The conference was divided into four parts:

  1. Academic Research - Paper Presentations & Doctoral Consortium
    Scholars presented papers addressing topics in Marketing Strategy, Service Marketing, Brand Marketing, E-marketing, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, International Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, and General Business; and exchange ideas with each other.  The best papers were recommended to the Chinese Journal of Management for publication.

    The Doctoral Consortium, held on 11th July, provided opportunities for senior doctoral students and junior faculty members in the marketing field to connect and interact with fellow students and researchers.

  2. The Pragmatic Aspects of Academic Research - Dialogue between Academia and Business
    In this session, recognized academics and business leaders were given a platform to demonstrate the practical aspects of their research to entrepreneurs and explore how advanced academic research can inspire marketing management. 

    Selected scholars and their research achievements were chosen to be published in the Changjiang Times, New Chu Business Magazine, and Sina Finance.

  3. China Marketing Excellence Awards (CMEA)
    The ceremony was hosted by Prof Forrest Yang, Associate Professor of the Department of Marketing of CityU. The award was a highlight of the conference and consisted of four categories: Excellent Marketing CasesExcellent Marketing IndividualsExcellent Marketing Case Editors, and Excellent Marketing Referrals.  CMEA provided a platform to showcase successful marketing strategies.  For details and results of the award, please click here.

  4. Marketing Teaching Forum
    Sub-forums were held by the Steering Committee of Business Administration Teaching in Colleges and Universities of Ministry of Education (教育部高等學校工商管理類學科專業教學指導委員會市場行銷專業指導小組) to discuss issues regarding undergraduate teaching specifically in the marketing field.  For details, please click here.

About the China International Marketing Conference (CIMC)

CMIC was initiated by the City University of Hong Kong in 2013. It is establishing itself as an important annual international academic conference, and is gradually developing into a large-scale worldwide academic event. Next year, the 2015 China Marketing International Conference will be held at Xi’an Jiaotong University.
