The College of Business held the 2014 Congregation for its Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and International DBA (IDBA) programmes at the Honorary Awards and Higher Degrees Conferment in Chan Tai Ho Multi-purpose Hall on 11th November.

A total of 26 students were conferred, 18 from the CityU DBA programme and eight from the International DBA programme jointly hosted by CityU and Fudan University.

A DBA reception was held prior to the congregation with lunch and photo-taking for graduates, their family members, and DBA professors. DBA programme Director Prof Muammer Ozer expressed his gratitude to the learning partners:

I feel a great deal of relief that our learning partners [DBA students] completed this challenge, as it's not easy. I am extremely proud… DBA students have to do research on their own and this is a very long and lonely process… I feel proud to be part of their research that contributes to knowledge, business and society in many ways.

Prof Ozer looks forward to seeing these research projects being published in journals and gaining a wider readership.

The College of Business Dean Prof Houmin Yan applauded the graduates in a news interview with the South China Morning Post. “I am impressed by their desire to learn…the DBA programme allows our learning partners to look at contemporary issues from different angles.”

Prof Roderick Wong Sue-cheun, Vice-President of CityU Development and External Relations, delivered a citation for Honorary Doctor of Business Administration recipient Mr Kwok-chun Yu, Chairman of the Yue Hwa Group and Yue Hwa Chinese Products Emporium Limited, at the congregation.

Warm congratulations to the graduates!

36 IDBA graduates, family members, and faculty celebrated their achievements in a banquet held at the CityU Staff lounge.
