CityU teams triumph in Chuang Qing Chun National Entrepreneurship Competition

Three teams from the College of Business have won top awards in the Chuang Qing Chun National Entrepreneurship Competition 2016 (「創青春」全國大學生創業大賽).

This year, the competition attracted a total of 110,000 project submissions from 2,220 higher institutions from different cities in China. Out of the 399 projects selected to enter the final competition, 24 teams were from Hong Kong. Sponsored by the Innovation and Technology Commission, CityU’s three teams performed distinctively in the final held in Chengdu, Sichuan from 15th to 20th November.

One of the two Gold award winning projects from Hong Kong, Nanbor (左鄰右保), comprised of four CB students:  Eli Chan Yin-lam, Cherissa Hung Sze-ying, Thadine Ng Wing-yin and Lisa Yeung Hoi-ying.

Taking a Minor in Social Entrepreneurship, which offers students to select elective courses from the areas of public policy, social science, business management and marketing, the group developed this new project with integration of innovation, business tools and market principles to address social problems.

Lisa explained the project idea, “It aims to provide matching services between housewives, retired individuals and families who are looking for babysitting services in the community.”

The team is now planning for their future directions and modifying their project ideas. They are hoping to find talents in IT and in business sector that are enthusiastic about social enterprises to support their project.

“We also want to develop a real mobile application and website in the near future if there is enough funding and investment”, said Lisa.
