MKT students recognised for outstanding consultancy projects

The Department of Marketing hosted the awards presentation ceremony on 9 January to commend outstanding Company Consultancy Projects produced by the BBA Marketing final year students semester A 2019/2020.
Under supervision of Dr Raine Ng and Mr Alex Tham, 158 students were grouped to 20 teams to solve different real marketing problems with qualitative and quantitative analysis. They were then asked to provide practical marketing solutions to nine leading brands across various industries, including Bayer HealthCare Limited, CooperVision Hong Kong Ltd., Dash Consultancy & Management Limited, Eatojoy, LH Group - Kabushikigaisha Limited (MouMouClub), Magnum Research Limited, Otsuka Pharmaceutical (H.K.) Ltd., Source Beauty Enterprise Limited and Wilson Communications Ltd.

Student teams were given different tasks: to develop an online-to-offline marketing campaign to enhance the business of Mou Mou Club; to analyse the most impactful media platform to student group and develop strategies and proposal to attract them to choose CooperVision’s contact lens; to develop strategies to increase Eatojoy platform usage of Central-Western District; to develop a marketing plan for YAZ that can increase brand consideration and utilization rate, to name some. They need to offer consultancy services including marketing research and creative business solutions.

Representatives of corporate partners commended students’ performance and some even considered realising students’ ideas into working plans. Summer Yan, Vice President of AQUMON of Magnum Research Limited said, “As a new player in the market, we are eager to understand our targeted clients' investment behavior, especially amongst millennials/Gen Y. CityU students conducted high quality market research and demonstrated executable marketing plans for us, which are quite impressive. Their findings and insights contributed great content for our company and supports our strategic planning. We appreciate their passion and professionalism during the process. "

At the award presentation ceremony, Dr Raymond Wong, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programmes), expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the corporate partners for trusting the students and providing excellent support to them. He mentioned that the competition enabled students to get a glimpse of marketing consultancy projects in the real business world, which would enhance their business acumen and prepare them for the future career challenges. Professor David Li, Acting head of Department of Marketing commended students for their hard work and creative ideas, he encouraged students to take initiatives in learning from various platforms and to keep abreast of the new trends in the business world.
Launched in 1995, the Company Consultancy Project Awards aim to provide students with real-life marketing experience through collaboration with corporations. Since then, over 200 companies have joined as corporate partners.
