In a pioneering collaboration aimed at enhancing students' understanding of the legal and regulatory framework of the Hong Kong securities and futures industry, the College of Business has partnered with the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI Institute) to offer a certificate programme in Legal and Regulatory Framework for the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Industry in May 2024. Twenty-five undergraduate students from CB successfully secured the certificate, upon participating in an intensive one-day training session and subsequently passing the examination.

The certificate programme is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the laws, regulations, and practices that steer the Hong Kong securities and futures industry. Miss Amy Chan, a speaker from the HKSI Institute, provided an insightful overview of the regulatory landscape of the Hong Kong financial industry. Her presentation covered a variety of topics such as the securities industry in Hong Kong, the Securities and Futures Commission’s (SFC) statutory objectives, the different types of SFC licensees, the Fitness and Propriety (F&P) requirements, as well as key concepts in the Securities and Futures Ordinance (SFO). This intensive programme serves as an effective preparatory platform for our students, gearing them towards professional licensing.

Ching-ka Yeung, a BBA Finance student, shared, “This certificate programme bridges the gap between theoretical financial studies and applied regulatory practice. It not only enhances my employability, but also equips me with the necessary tools to navigate and excel in the complex regulatory landscape of Hong Kong’s financial industry.”
