College of Business Commencement Ceremony 2024
The College of Business held its Commencement and Award Giving Ceremony on 15 June, celebrating the graduation of over 2,800 CB students.

At the ceremony, Dean Professor Kalok Chan congratulated the graduating students for their achievements, noting the challenges they faced during their academic studies due to global instability.
“Your achievement today is extraordinary as it comes against a backdrop where the world has been in disorder for much of your undergraduate or postgraduate career. So, special congratulations for getting through to this graduation!”
Looking to the future, Dean Chan emphasised the importance of innovation and an entrepreneurial mindset for graduates as they enter the professional world, “I hope that you will continue to innovate, for it will set you apart in the competitive marketplace. As graduates of the College of Business, you have been nurtured to approach challenges proactively, take calculated risks, and learn from setbacks. The entrepreneurial mindset enables you to navigate uncertainty and turn it into an opportunity for growth.”
Student speakers Yiyang Poh, representing undergraduates, and Jiacheng Pan, representing graduate students, also addressed the audience. Yiyang highlighted the significant impact of 3Cs: CityU, COVID-19, and Competition on the graduating class. Jiacheng expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the students' success and encouraged graduates to use their knowledge and skills to address pressing challenges and create positive change.
In addition to the graduation ceremony, the event also featured the presentation of several faculty and alumni awards. The College Teaching Excellence Award was given to Professor Yaxuan Qi of the Department of Economics and Finance, and Professor Xu Zheng of the Department of Marketing. The College Research Excellence Award was presented to Professor Zhankun Sun of the Department of Management Sciences, and Professor Zhengyang Xu of the Department of Economics and Finance.

The College of Business Distinguished Alumni Award was conferred upon Dr Bessie Chong Pui-san, Director of Partnership Development at Esquel Group, and Mr Henry Ko Hok-han, Vice President of Corporate Development APAC and Chairman of Greater China at Flexport.
The College of Business expressed gratitude to all the participants, including students, faculty, and alumni, for their achievements and contributions to the college community. Dean Chan invited all graduates to remain connected with the CB community so that they would learn and grow with each other, and be able to face the practical and learning challenges of dealing with very fast changing circumstances.
