CB welcomes inbound exchange students
The Exchange Student Club (ESC) at the College of Business recently organised a series of orientation activities for incoming exchange students hailing from 88 partner universities. With a focus on easing their transition into academic and social life in Hong Kong, the orientation week, spanning from 27 to 30 August 2024, comprised a range of informative sessions, interactive meetups, and engaging events. As over 220 students embarked on this journey, the ESC's efforts aimed to provide valuable insights and support for their upcoming adventure in a new environment.

Dean Kalok Chan welcomes the inbound students and encourages them to explore Hong Kong to make the most of their exchange experience.
During the luncheon on 28 August, Professor Kalok Chan, Dean of the College of Business, welcomed the inbound students and encouraged them to actively participate in learning and student activities offered at CityUHK as well as exploring different aspects of Hong Kong to make the most of their exchange experience. He emphasised the extensive support available to students at CityUHK. Other attendees included Professor Mary Pang, Associate Dean (Internationalisation), Mr Carl Tang, Associate Director of the Global Engagement Office, Mr Alex Chau, Assistant Manager of the Global Engagement Office, and several department representatives, such as Professor Sidney Leung, Dr Andy Kwan, Dr Daniel Tse, and Professor Qianqian Huang.
Prior to the luncheon, ESC organised a CityUHK Orienteering Game designed to familiarise inbound students with the campus and facilitate connections among peers. Johannes Gabriel FALKNER of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria said, “The orientation games were a fantastic way to kick off my semester at CityUHK. I made new friends, found my way around the campus more easily, and discovered some exciting new flavours at lunch.”
On 30 August, 114 inbound students, along with six ESC members, enjoyed a day out on Lantau Island, visiting the Big Buddha and Tai-O. Joao FERREIRA-GOMES of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa said, "A focal point of culture and belief, the Big Buddha was as overwhelming in atmosphere as it was in size." Another student Isabella LIPPERT from Technische Universität München also shared, “The trip has been well planned, I really enjoyed it. Also, the atmosphere was very open, making me feel comfortable asking everything. It was a really nice orientation week!”
