CityUHK Business Innovative Education launch ceremony
The College of Business held the launch ceremony for Business Innovation Education (BIE) on 31 August. The ceremony brought together over 90 prominent figures from the business world and academia to celebrate the start of a new initiative to foster creativity, innovation, and cutting-edge practices in the education and business sectors.
The ceremony kicked off with welcoming remarks from Professor Kalok Chan, Dean of the College of Business, who emphasised the critical role of business in driving transformation and the importance of cultivating a culture that encourages creativity and risk-taking. Dean Chan highlighted the significance of the BIE in providing education and training programmes while also meeting industry needs.
Following Dean Chan, Professor Michael Tse, Associate Vice-President (Innovation) and Director of CityU Academy of Innovation, discussed the collaborative efforts between the College of Business and the Academy of Innovation. He highlighted the shared commitment to supporting innovative business plans and initiatives.

In his opening remarks, Professor Wilton Chau, Founding Co-Chair of BIE, expressed the initiative’s dedication to creating a hub and consolidating resources for education, training, and industry engagement.
Professor Tina Choi, Founding Director and Founding Committee Member of BIE, introduced BIE as a platform for creating societal impact through innovative and experiential learning approaches. She emphasised the collaborative nature of the BIE, which seeks to unite successful entrepreneurs, investors, and researchers in pursuit of new approaches in education and business practices.

The ceremony also featured the Founding Committee Inauguration, marking the official establishment of a dedicated team tasked with leading the BIE initiative to success.
Furthermore, Mr Wilson Chow, a Founding Committee Member of BIE and Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, presented a seminar entitled "Demystifying Generative AI and its Generating Power," providing insights into the economic implications and considerations for adopting Generative AI with the participants.
Business Innovation Education represents a strategic opportunity to assert CityUHK's global education leadership in Hong Kong. The College aims to establish a premier centre for global executive education in Asia, dedicated to developing transformative business leaders for the 21st century.
