The Exchange Student Club (ESC) at the College of Business hosted a series of orientation activities for new exchange students from 77 partner universities. From 7 to 10 January 2025, the week included informative sessions, interactive gatherings, and events designed to help over 150 students adjust to life in Hong Kong.

During the Welcome Luncheon on 8 January, Professor Kalok Chan, Dean of the College of Business, warmly welcomed the new students and encouraged them to immerse themselves in both learning and student activities at CityUHK. He urged them to explore the diverse facets of Hong Kong to fully embrace their exchange experience, highlighting the extensive support available at CityUHK. Among the attendees were Professor Mary Pang, Associate Dean (Internationalisation), Mr Carl Tang, Associate Director of the Global Engagement Office, and Mr Alex Chau, Assistant Manager of the Global Engagement Office.

During lunch, two year-long students, Barua Surjo from Baruch College and MacArthur Keeva from McMaster University, offered practical advice on navigating the city and maximising their academic experience.

The exchange students thanked ESC for organising the orientation events and shared their positive feedback. Shuting Foo from Singapore Management University said, “The orienteering games allowed us to explore the campus interactively. The welcome lunch was also delicious, introducing us to local dishes!” Sára Kubalikova from Prague University of Economics and Business shared, “The trip to the Big Buddha was a great experience, and I particularly enjoyed visiting the charming fishing village afterward. Overall, it was an amazing start to my exchange journey!” Federico Pezzoli from Bocconi University added, “The trip was well organised and the places were wonderful. The entire week was fun and a perfect chance to meet other students.” Seungmin Jeon from ESSEC Business School enjoyed the trip, saying, “The Big Buddha trip in Hong Kong was mind-blowing. The orientation week is a great opportunity to meet new exchange friends from different nations and get to know some of the best local students.” Maureen Liu from the University of Texas at Dallas reflected, “The events were engaging, well planned, and prepared us for the start of the semester!”
