Biography
Prof. Lambert is a Professor of Practice of the College of Business, where he co-leads the University’s Flagship BBA Global Business programme. He actively bridges the gap between theoretical academic concepts and real-world execution, bringing over four decades of C-suite and senior leadership experience directly into the curriculum. His expertise, honed in the most competitive global industries including telecom, banking, tourism, luxury retail and charities, encompasses corporate strategy, brand revitalization, business development, transformational marketing and management.
Distinguished Industry Career: A Foundation for Practice-Based Education
Prior to his academic appointment, Prof. Lambert built a renowned career as a transformative leader, consistently driving growth and innovation across multiple sectors:
Chief Executive, UNICEF Hong Kong: Led the strategic direction and operational execution for the territory, championing the advocacy of children's rights and fundraising on a global scale. He spearheaded the highly successful "For Every Child Hygiene" campaign during the COVID-19 crisis, raising over HK$11 million and distributing one million face masks to the most vulnerable communities, demonstrating strategic crisis management and social innovation.
Executive Director & Deputy CEO, TSL Jewellery Group: Joined the Board to strategize the comprehensive revitatlisation of the 50-year-old legacy brand. He successfully orchestrated its organisation transformation, resulting in a significant expansion of its retail network to over 300 shops across Mainland China, Japan, Malaysia, and Macau, a testament to his expertise in brand strategy and Asian market development.
Managing Director, Cards and Unsecured Loans, DBS Bank (Hong Kong): Rejuvenated the bank's cards portfolio, he strategically re-aligned the business and led a successful relaunch. This transformative effort was recognized with two Gold and Silver EFFIE Awards—the "Oscars of the marketing industry"—highlighting his mastery of strategic marketing and innovation.
General Manager, Hong Kong Tourism Board: Played a pivotal role in Hong Kong's post-SARS V-shaped economic recovery. He helped orchestrate the Global Tourism Revival Campaign, launching iconic destination attractions and mega-events that included the renowned "Symphony of Lights" multimedia show, Hong Kong Disneyland, and the Ngong Ping 360 cable car, showcasing his ability in large-scale event organisation and destination marketing.
General Manager, Hong Kong Telecom (PCCW): Gained high profile recognition for his strategic creativity by launching and managing two award-winning telecom brands, "1010" and "One2Free." As the youngest General Manager in the sector, he received the prestigious Cable & Wireless Chief Executive Award and the HKMA/TVB Marketing Excellence Award for revolutionizing telecom consumer marketing in Hong Kong.
Current Academic and Advisory Impact
At City University of Hong Kong, besides leading the flagship BBA Global Business programme, he also serves on the Advisory Board of the University's Sales and Marketing Consulting Unit. He had also taught at top tertiary education institutions including the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Community College and the HKU SPACE.
His influence extends beyond the university as a sought-after advisor. He is a Council Member of the Gerson Lehrman Group, providing management consultancy to multinational corporations, and a Training Partner for the Hong Kong Productivity Council and SET Consulting. Moreover, he was the Program Director, Asia Pacific Communication and Marketing Council of The Conference Board.
Having a “Slash career”, Lambert is also serving as the Chairman of the Board of the Youth Global Network as well as being the Consultant in Enhancement for the New York Theological Education Centre. For many years, he has contributed as a management and marketing columnist for leading publications like Ming Pao and the Hong Kong Economic Times, cementing his role as a public thought leader.
