Biography
Dr. Sahoo’s research examines how financial accounting and disclosure practices—both traditional and emerging—ranging from structured financial data to unstructured narrative-driven sources such as social media sentiment, Wikipedia edits, and analyst reports—influence corporate decision-making, stakeholder perceptions, and market outcomes, particularly in environments characterized by strategic transformation and heightened external scrutiny. To address these questions, he draws on a diverse set of data sources to examine the interplay between financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, and information intermediaries. His interdisciplinary training—comprising a Ph.D. in Accounting, an MBA in Finance, and a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering combined with professional certifications, including CFA, FRM, and sustainability investing and reporting credentials from Harvard, the CFA Institute, and the IFRS Foundation—enriches his research perspective. Dr. Sahoo has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses including Financial Reporting, Introductory and Intermediate Financial Accounting, and Risk Management.
