Biography
Dr. Satish Sahoo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accountancy at the College of Business, City University of Hong Kong. He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Southern California, an MBA in Finance, and a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, and is a CFA and FRM charterholder with additional sustainability credentials from Harvard, the CFA Institute, and the IFRS Foundation. His research exploits structured and unstructured data (social media sentiment, Wikipedia edits, analyst reports) to study how financial and nonfinancial information is disclosed, intermediated by the media and financial analysts, and acted upon by corporates and capital market participants in contexts—such as M&A and ESG—marked by strategic change and heightened information asymmetry. At CityU, Dr. Sahoo teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in financial reporting, financial accounting, and risk management.
